Osage County Commission Meeting Minutes

February 21, 2017

 

The meeting was called to order by Presiding Commissioner Dudenhoeffer in the EOC at 8:30 AM.

Meeting opened with the Pledge of Allegiance.

District 1 Commissioner John Glavin present.

District 2 Commissioner Larry Kliethermes was present.

County Clerk Patrick Steele on duty.

Media was represented by Neal Johnson.

Present for all or part of the meeting were: Sheriff Michael Bonham, Susan Long, intern Katlyn Ruettgers, Justin Carnes, new Deputy; and Randy Atkin

Approval of the Agenda: Approved.

Minutes:  Minutes of Regular Meeting of February14, 2017 were reviewed and approved with correction of “intersection of CR 402 and 403” instead of Highway 50.

Bills and Communications:

Dixon Trial is set for March 1, 2017 at 9 AM

Check for payment of the 2014 Dodge Ram was signed and given to Sheriff Bonham to deliver.

Meetings:

West Central District Commissioners Meeting, Callaway County on March 16, 2017. Information should be available soon.

Old Business:

Road and Bridge Items: Prior to the meeting, Randy Atkin talked about looking at a used service truck, 4 WD with a good bed and one other truck.  He provided this information to show what he was looking for and stated that these were in the $6000 to $8000 dollar range.

Plan for County Roads:  No discussion

Website:  No problems.

Luebbering Law Suit:

2017 Tax Support Committee: Need to get draft ballot language.

Westphalia Road Issue:  No new information.

Agricultural Ready County Program Application:  No new information.

MRPC Regional Transportation Plan Update:  County Clerk Steele reported that the report did not identify additional revenue from property taxes for Road and Bridge.

County Road 402 update:  Randy Atkin reported that R&B was looking at extending the culvert to provide a little more turning room at CR 402 and CR 403.  There is only limited space available because of trees on one side and a power line on the other side.

 

New Business: 

 

Department Reports:

County Clerk Steele reported that the hearing scheduled for 8 AM seeking a Court Order for an election at Chamois had been dismissed by the City of Chamois.  If there is no Court Order, Chamois will not be able to have an election and declared candidates would not be elected representatives for the City. The deadline is set for 5 PM today.  It is unclear what happens if there is no election.  At that point, the City must decide on the next step. Clerk Steele will work with Chamois to   

Sheriff Michael Bonham reported that there had been a minor fender bender accident behind the Courthouse involving a deputy as he was backing out of the parking space.  He filed an accident report with the Commissioners.  Sheriff Bonham also introduced new Deputy Justin Carnes from Chamois to the Commissioners.

            Sheriff Bonham reported that Rehagen Heating and Cooling had quite a lot of information on the problems in the jail and said that they would like to come to talk with the Commissioners on March 2, 2017.

The Single Source Contracts will be approved on February 22, 2017.

           

           

Public Comments: 

 

Other:  Elected Officials are supposed to provide chili for the upcoming Town Hall Meeting on March 21, 2017.

Presiding Commissioner reported that when MoDOT works on resurfacing Highway 133, they will make improvements to the junction of Highway 63 and Highway 133.

            Commissioner Kliethermes asked what was the use tax percentage paid to Osage County?

Adjournment:
